Marsha
Novak MSPE, P.T., GCFP (cm)
Marsha Novak earned her physical
therapy degree in 1985 at the University of Washington after earning a master's degree
in kinesiology in 1982, also at the U.W. She became a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner
(cm) in 2003. Marsha has extensive teaching experience including 10 years of teaching 'Kinesiology
for Dancers' at Cornish College of the Arts. Through many years of studying dance and working
as a physical therapist, she became interested in what rehabilitation, injury prevention and
peak performance have in common.
To this end, Marsha pursued continuing education in
a wide variety of approaches to movement education. These included the Alexander
Technique, Aston Therapeutics and Pilates-based exercise, before ultimately deciding
to become a Feldenkrais®
Practitioner. Informed
by this varied experience, she has developed an individualized problem solving approach that
not only addresses basic rehabilitation, but also helps her clients discover ways in which habits
of posture and movement are interfering with optimal ease and efficiency, and suggesting alternatives.
This is relevant for chronic pain relief, flexibility and posture improvement as well as injury
prevention, increased ease in daily activity, and performance enhancement in athletics and the
arts.
